The Autonomous Port of Lomé provided, in addition to its sovereign functions, industrial and commercial functions. The Port Authority is in charge of the operation of the installations, the piloting and the towing of the ships, the material and legal guard of the goods, the service of the lighthouses and beacons, the lookout and radio, management of the port and maritime domain. In addition, it retains the handling of certain categories of goods, in particular wheat, clinker and hydrocarbons. The Port of Lomé is the driving force behind Togo’s economic activity, and the transit port par excellence for landlocked countries such as Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger.
